A visit to Martha's Vineyard

Paula and I took to trip to Martha's Vineyard, in early August, 2013.
We took the fast ferry from New Bedford harbor to Martha's Vineyard.  The trip took only one hour, and that includes some delay waiting for a large yacht to leave the Vineyard Haven harbor at the destination.

At the ferry terminal, we were met by Rebecca, Kelly, and her mother Sally.  Sally drove us to her house and we spent some time there.  We tried the K-cup coffee, which were quite good.

For lunch, Sally drove us to the Aquinah reservation. That is also where Paula and I went more than 35 years ago.  We had taken a picture in front of the cliff and light house.  We were told that the light house will be moved to a new location within a year, before the erosion cause it to fall down the cliff.

Here is Sally and Rebecca, walking from the parked car to meet us at the Aquinah gift shop and restaurants.
Sally and Kelly took a picture almost exactly where Paula and I took our picture 38 years ago.

Maybe this is more the position where we took our picture years ago.
We had lunch at the restaurant next to the observation platform, where you can view the cliff and the lighthouse.

We also shared a lobster salad for appetizer.  This salad is stuffed with lobster meat, avagado, and tomato salad, and drizzled with olive oil on endives.  Very delicious.

Here is a closeup of the lighthouse. It is actually not too far from the road.  Note there is a man working inside the lighthouse.
The lighthouse is not dangling  precariously on a cable.  It is just a telephone wire in the way of the scenery.  We were walking back to the car after lunch.
We had ice cream at Mad March's ice cream.  After that, we had to rush to the ferry terminal to pick up the last ferry home at 5:30 PM.

It was a great trip to the island.
